Today, Deadline announced that teen actress Momona Tamada has joined the cast of The Spiderwick Chronicles on Disney+. We at Knight Edge Media had heard she may have joined the cast back during the start of production. Production on the reboot series began in September in her hometown of Vancouver and will star Lyon Daniels and Noah Cottrell as the Grace Brothers from the original novels. Her talent agency DaCosta Talent announced on Instagram that Tamada had joined an untitled episodic in September. According to the report, Tamada will play Emiko. “A local teenager in Henson, she’s a member of the outpatient group therapy at the Meskwaki Psychiatric Hospital. Diagnosed as a pathological liar it’s hard to know when she is telling the truth, but it’s clear that as a townie she has also grown-up hearing about the mysterious goings-on at the Spiderwick Estate and is curious about its newest resident, Jared Grace (Daniels).”

Tamada is best known for her role as Claudia Kishi in Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club but recently appeared in the Paramount+ film Secret Headquarters. She will also appear on Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender as Ty Lee. The Spiderwick Chronicles will be showrun by Aron Eli Coleite and have the first two episodes directed by Kat Coiro.

The Spiderwick Chronicles will stream exclusively on Disney+
