Marvel Studios ‘Armor Wars’ TV Series Redeveloped Into A Feature Film

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the long-in-development War Machine series Armor Wars will be a feature film instead of a Disney+ series. This comes from head writer Yassir Lester, who will continue to redevelop the story alongside star Don Cheadle. Ironically, a War Machine spin-off film was already previously written in 2019 by Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole. Cheadle revealed the plot to CinemaBlend during the press tour for Avengers: Infinity War:

“There was definitely going to be a lot of tension between his job as a military man and his allegiances to the code that he swore an oath to uphold, versus the changing world. I think they probably would have run afoul of each other a little bit, but I don’t know if he would have been a straight fugitive, or if he would have become decommissioned. But there was definitely going to be some tension between those two worlds.”

It’s unknown if Lester will take elements from Joe Robert Cole’s original script to be added into his screenplay for Armor Wars. Back in 2020, we at Knight Edge Media had heard the studio still wanted to bring back Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer for the Armor Wars series. It’s unknown which upcoming Phase the film will be released.
