Recently, actor James McAvoy spoke with Collider about his love for playing young Charles Xavier in the X-Men: First Class films. Fans have always wondered if he would be open to playing another Patrick Stewart role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard. The actor revealed he is a fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation but believes he may be getting too old for the role.

I mean, I’ve often talked about loving Star Trek, and jokingly, but also kind of seriously been like, if you ever want to do a young Jean-Luc Picard, I’m your man. But I’m probably getting close to being too old to do a young Jean-Luc Picard now. So there’s that… I’ve always loved it. Always.

Fans for years have also thrown Loki star Tom Hiddleston’s name in as a possible Data (initially played by Brent Spiner) if a reboot would ever occur. However, it should be noted that Patrick Stewart returned for the role in the spin-off series titled simply Picard on Paramunt+.

Star Trek: The Next Generation is now streaming on Paramount+
