Director Matt Shakman Tapped To Helm Another ‘Planet of the Apes’ Film

Director Matt Shakman has been hired to helm a new original Planet of the Apes film.

Today, a report announced that director Matt Shakman has been hired to helm a new original Planet of the Apes film. Shakman is best known for directing a few critically acclaimed TV shows like WandaVision and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. However, he stepped into the feature film arena, directing the Marvel Studios reboot film, Fantastic Four: First Steps.

This film will not be a sequel to Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which was loosely a sequel to the original Caesar trilogy starring Andy Serkis. The film will be an original story by Shakman and his Fantastic Four scribe Josh Friedman. 20th Century Studios is returning to produce the film alongside longtime Apes producers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
