Today, a report announced that British actor Himesh Patel has joined the cast of The X-Files reboot opposite Danielle Deadwyler. Patel is best known for his role in the Beatles film Yesterday and will be seen later this year in The Odyssey. While Deadwyler has appeared in several horror films, including last year’s The Woman in the Yard. The report also states they will be playing two new original characters, rather than Agent Mulder and Agent Scully. Which makes sense as Gillian Anderson recently revealed she read the script and wants fans of the original show to give the reboot a chance (via EW).
“Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents (Deadwyler, Patel) form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.”
Wouldn’t be surprised if Anderson and David Duchovny make a surprise appearance in the series, though the report specifically states they are not in the pilot. The series is being developed by producer Ryan Coogler (Black Panther) alongside showrunner Jennifer Yale. Production begins soon.
The X-Files reboot will stream exclusively on Hulu sometime in 2027
