DC Comics Taps Angel Manuel Soto To Helm a ‘Blue Beetle’ Feature Film

Today, The Wrap announced that Warner Brothers alongside DC Comics have tapped Angel Manuel Soto to helm a Blue Beetle feature film. This will mark the first time a Latino-led superhero movie will be developed by the studio. As it will follow the Jaime Reyes version of the character as opposed to the Ted Kord version. The director recently made a big splash will his latest film Charm City Kings streaming now on HBO Max. Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer will pen the script for the studio.

Many fans have fancast Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña as Jamie. As well as fan-casting the actor as Nova/Sam Alexander in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, both the actor and director recently started following each other on Instagram. Production is expected to begin this Fall which marks yet another DC film to start filming by the end of the year. The film could also debut on HBO Max alongside other smaller DC films including Static Shock and Batgirl.
