‘Rogue One’ Uncredited Director Tony Gilroy Set as ‘Cassian Andor’ Showrunner; Genevieve O’Reilly Returns as Mon Mothma

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Rogue One uncredited director Tony Gilroy has taken over as showrunner of the upcoming Star Wars prequel Disney+ series Cassian Andor. Gilroy was brought on in post-production to direct the reshoots for Rogue One after Gareth Edwards was asked to step down as director. Gilroy also helped with rewrites of the reshot scenes in Rogue One which included the infamous Darth Vader massacre scene. Tony Gilroy was already set to direct the pilot episode of Cassian Andor. His brother Nightcrawler director Dan Gilroy joins the writing staff alongside House of Cards writer Beau Willimon.

Lastly, it was announced that Genevieve O’Reilly and Denise Gough have joined the cast of the upcoming series. Genevieve O’Reilly is returning as Rebel politician Mon Mothma from Rogue One. Denise Gough’s role is currently unknown. They join Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller who joined the cast last week. With Deigo Luna returning as the title rebel spy Cassian Andor himself.
