Production is currently underway for Marvel Studios’ upcoming sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Atlanta. After actor Chadwick Boseman tragically passed away, director and writer Ryan Coogler had to go back to the drawing board last year. He and many fans had who would be the next Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Many fans thought that the studio should recast T’Challa so the character could live on, while others found that disrespectful towards Boseman. The other half of the coin suggested another character take up the title of Black Panther and allow the character of T’Challa to be written out of the film. Which is what is exactly going to happen in the sequel…
Spoilers Ahead
We at Knight Edge Media have heard that several characters will be considered to take up the mantle of Black Panther throughout the film. Just like the original film, the sequel will deal with family and how it affects Wakanda. We have heard both Shuri (played by Letitia Wright) and Okoye (played by Danai Gurira) have at some point will wear a suit.
Today, The Cosmic Circus has revealed that the mantle is expected to be passed down eventually to T’Challa’s son. According to their report, Nakia (played by Lupita Nyong’o) will be pregnant with T’Challa’s son around the time of The Snap. By the time of the sequel, he will be around 7 or 8 and prince of Wakanda. It’s unknown if he will wear a version of suit in the film or in any future sequel.
