Today, Marvel Studios alongside Sony Pictures officially released the fourth Spidey film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film will bring back Tom Holland for his fourth solo adventure as Peter Parker, 5 years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the film, everyone in the world has forgotten that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, including his best friend, Ned Leeds (played by Jacob Batalon), and his girlfriend, MJ (played by Zendaya). However, throughout the film, Ned tries to figure out Spider-Man’s secret identity. He invents the Spider Tracker to crowdsource Spider-Man’s movements throughout New York City.

The post-credits scene features the “Spider Tracker going off and simply stating that Spider-Man’s location is unknown” before the camera pans to space and reads “Spider-Man found”. Followed by the “Spider-Man will return” title on the screen. This scene is meant to set up Tom Holland’s return in Avengers: Secret Wars, not Avengers: DoomsdayThough another Spider-Man has long been rumored to appear in the opening prologue of Doomsday. In the original 1984 Avengers: Secret Wars comics, Spider-Man makes his first appearance in the iconic black suit while on Battleworld. It wasn’t until 1988 that comic book writer Todd McFarlane revealed the black suit was actually a sentient alien symbiote that would eventually become Venom.

We already know that Venom films have left part of the symbiote on Earth-616 in a post-credit scene. Eddie Brock (played by Tom Hardy) is sent to Earth-616 before being sent immediately back in the final Venom film. It’s unknown whether it will come into contact with Holland’s Peter Parker before the start of Secret Wars or while he is on Battleworld, as in the comics. It’s also unknown if this means Venom proper will be used in the fifth Spider-Man film, like in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. While speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, producer Amy Pascal mentioned Venom and Peter Parker finally coming face-to-face someday: “It would be great, let’s put it that way,”. Though typically Eddie Brock gets the Venom symbiote after Peter Parker, not before, like Tom Hardy’s version already has.
