Sony Pictures has been trying to get a Metal Gear Solid live-action movie off the ground for over a decade. The last we had heard was that Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was going to direct a film, and the studio met with Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight, Dune) to star as Solid Snake in 2020. Now, after signing a first-look deal with Sony Pictures, the directing duo of Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are set to helm the project based on the video game. This comes on the heels of the duo’s massive success with last year’s Final Destination: Bloodlines. It’s unknown if Isaac is still attached to star as Solid Snake or if they will recast. The duo is also attached to direct a Venom animated film for the studio.
