Today, Paramount and Activision announced that their upcoming Call of Duty live-action movie will adapt a storyline from the critically acclaimed Modern Warfare franchise. The announcement came as the director Peter Berg and producer/writer Taylor Sheridan attended Fantastic Fest. While it’s still unknown whether it will be a direct adaptation of the 2007 video game or the rebooted 2019 version, it’s reasonable to assume that many of the major characters will appear in the film. The video games introduced us to Task Force 141, which includes British Captain John Price, Scot SAS operative John “Soap” MacTavish, and Spec Ops operative Simon “Ghost” Riley. If it is a direct adaptation of the original game trilogy, it will include the infamous “No Russian” storyline from Modern Warfare 2. Currently, longtime Berg collaborator Mark Wahlberg (Lone Survivor, Patriots Day) is in talks to star in the film (via DanielRPK Patreon). Production begins sometime in early 2027.
