Today, a report announced that director Peter Berg and screenwriter Taylor Sheridan have begun developing the long-in-development Call of Duty live-action movie. Several versions of the film have been in development hell for a number of years before getting picked up by Paramount Pictures in September. Berg and Sheridan have been close friends for several years and were looking for a project to collaborate on. Both will executive produce and pen the script together, all while Berg is set to direct.

Berg is best known for directing such films as Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day, all starring Mark Wahlberg. While Taylor Sherion has led a multitude of cowboy TV series on Paramount+, including Yellowstone, and its spin-offs 1883 and 1923. It’s unknown whether this film will be an adaptation of the popular series Modern Warfare or Black Ops, or of their World War 2 video games from the early 2000s. Though it’ll most likely be an original story set in the video game universe.
