Today, a report announced that Prime Video is expected to begin production on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 4 in early 2027, with pre-production starting this fall. While the fourth season has yet to be officially greenlit by the streaming service, it is expected to return to the UK for filming. Amazon has consistently confirmed over the years that it remains committed to the original five-season plan from showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay. The first season was the biggest streaming series debut on Prime Video, and the second season performed really well. The third season is expected to return this fall and will include a timeskip several years into the future during The War of Elves and Sauron of the Second Age. If all things go according to plan, season four is expected to debut on Amazon Prime sometime in late 2028. With the epic season 5 conclusion sometime in late 2030, during The Last Alliance of Men and Elves.

The Rings of Power season 3 returns to Prime Video on November 11th
