Today, a report announced that British actress Cate Blanchett will return to play Valka in the live-action movie How to Train Your Dragon 2. Blanchett provided the voice of Hiccup’s missing mother in the original animated film alongside Gerard Butler as Stoick the Vast in the early 2010’s. Production on the sequel will be underway later this month with the returning cast of Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Gerard Butler, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, and Harry Trevaldwyn. Dean DeBlois returns to write and direct the film after working on the original animated film.
