Today, a report announced that Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald are in development on a Knight Rider reboot. The trio is best known for creating the smash Netflix hit Cobra Kai. However, they have also worked on the Harold & Kumar and American Reunion films of the early 2000s. Knight Rider was a 1980s network TV series starring David Hasselhoff as detective Michael Knight and his talking car, KITT.
All three will pen the script with Hurwitz and Schlossberg in talks to direct the film. A previous version of the film was in development back in 2020 before it was shelved. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch will produce the film under 87North production company. While Gary Barber and Chris Stone will produce through Spyglass and Universal Pictures.
