Today, we at Knight Edge Media have exclusively learned that Canadian actress Kelsey Lopes has been cast as fan-favorite character Jin in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2. In the original series, Jin is an Earth Kingdom love interest to Zuko for a single episode, as he pretends to be a fellow Earth Kingdom refugee hiding out in Ba Sing Se. Jin’s character was also featured in a recent Avatar Legends novel, City of Echoes (via Amazon).

Over the summer, we were misinformed by another actress’s talent manager that they were cast for the role, which turned out to be false. We have since confirmed that Kelsey was the actual actress cast earlier this year. Also, Jet actor Sebastian Amoruso follows the actress, as his sub-plot with Zuko will most likely overlap with Jin’s sub-plot in the live-action adaptation.

Many fans have theorized that the live-action series could just combine Jin and Song into a single character. Given their minimal roles and personal connection to Zuko in the original series, though, that is just speculation. Nevertheless, Lopes is of Chinese and Portuguese descent and is from Vancouver, Canada. She has appeared in episodes of The Last of Us and Yellowjackets. As well as five episodes of the series A Million Little Things in 2022. Production on season 2 ended in March, and season 3 production began again in May, back in Vancouver.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 will debut sometime in 2026
