Today, Netflix released the episode titles for the second season of Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action TV series. The episode count has been reduced from 8 episodes to 7 for the second season. We at Knight Edge Media have learned exclusively that, while the episode count has been reduced, the overall runtime is longer than in season 1, which was 8 episodes.
The season 2 episode titles include:
Episode 1: Somewhere Safe (Written by: Christine Boylan)
Episode 2: A Fight, Once Begun (Written by: Phinneas Kiyomura)
Episode 3: City of Walls and Secrets (Written by: Helen Shang)
Episode 4: The Water Falls, the Stones Emerge (Written by: Teresa Huang)
Episode 5: Ten Thousand Things (Written by: Gabriel Llanas)
Episode 6: The Parable of the Two Dragons (Written by: Keely MacDonald)
Episode 7: Something Broken (Written by: Christine Boylan & Gabriel Llanas)
As you can see, the timeline of the live-action series differs greatly from that of the original animated series. The gang will arrive early in Ba Sing Se in episode 3 and then travel to “The Library” in episode 5. We have been told that, while the story will always come first, a secondary reason for the change was the high cost of building Ba Sing Se as a real-life set. So it needed to be used as often and early as possible, which makes complete sense from a financial standpoint. It’s currently unknown how “Appa’s Lost Days” will factor into the live-action series, as that was the whole reason Aang traveled to Ba Sing Se in the first place, following the events in the Library. As well as the knowledge of “The Day of Black Sun” that was coming, and the need for the Earth King’s army.
Avatar: The Last Airbender season 2 returns to Netflix sometime in 2026
