Today, a report announced that the film rights for the Jason Bourne franchise have gone up for sale. Original author Robert Ludlum’s estate has put the rights up for sale after their longtime partnership with Universal Studios. The previous films starring Matt Damon included The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, and Jason Bourne. There is also a spin-off film called The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner.

Unfortunately, the previously announced Bourne 5 film has been put on hold indefinitely. Other studios like Skydance/Paramount, Apple, and Netflix are interested in bidding on the spy franchise. However, Universal Pictures could still return and bid on it for the right to return home. Robert Ludlum’s estate will be overseeing the bidding process in the future.

All Jason Bourn films are streaming now on Peacock
