Today, a report announced that Walt Disney is looking to reboot the story of Holes, originally based on a novel of the same name by author Louis Sachar. The book was adapted into a movie in 2003 with Disney star Shia LaBeouf after his time on Even Stevens. The new reboot has already been ordered to pilot by the studio and will debut on Disney+, though a full season has yet to be greenlighted. However, this will be a reimagining as a girl’s camp instead of boys. “In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose.” Liz Phang will showrun the project, with Alina Mankin joining as a head writer. Drew Goddard will executive produce via Goddard Textiles production company.
Holes will stream exclusively on Disney+
