Today, a report has gone out that actress Courtney Cox has entered talks to return for Scream 7. This comes after the news that original Scream queen Neve Campbell will return to the franchise after being absent in Scream 6. As originally reported, this film will follow the original cast members from the 90s horror franchise and not the recent films that starred Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Still, no word if David Arquette is mysteriously returning after his apparent demise in Scream 6. Kevin Williamson will direct the film after writing the original film in the 90s. He added:

“It’s been nearly 30 years since my very first script, ‘Scream,’ was directed by the legendary Wes Craven. I never would have predicted what it would become. Or that I would be directing the seventh installment of the franchise. I am overcome with gratitude and excitement, and I can’t wait to take this journey with Neve and the entire ‘Scream’ family as we bring back Sidney Prescott in the next chapter of the ‘Scream’ franchise. Thank you to all the ‘Scream’ fans. You are the gift that keeps giving.”

Production is expected to begin later this year.

Scream 7 has no set release date
