‘The Rings of Power’ Showrunners Patrick McKay & JD Payne Begin Early Work on Season 3

Today, Amazon MGM announced a new deal with showrunners Patrick McKay and JD Payne through their 10:40 PM production company. The two writers are hard at work on The Rings of Power season 2 post-production, as it wrapped filming last year. The report also states they are trucking along with early pre-production on season 3 of the massive Middle-Earth series.

The streaming network has approved a full 5-season series from the writers. However, it’s unknown if it will cut the show short. A writer’s room has yet to be assembled for season 3, but it most likely includes many of the same writers of the first two seasons. However, Patrick McKay and JD Payne wrote most of the season 1 episodes.
