Recently, fans have gotten their hands on the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder, The Official Movie Special Book slated to hit shelves on September 19th. The book revealed that director/writer Taika Waititi has already begun work on developing Thor 5 following last year’s Thor: Love and Thunder. The director came into director Thor: Ragnarok to the surprise of many fans, but unfortunately, the humor he infused in the Thor franchise wore off in Love & Thunder.

THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER

This sentiment has been echoed by star Chris Hemsworth, who has admitted they went a little too far into the comedy with the fourth film (via Variety): “I think we just had too much fun. It just became too silly; It’s always hard being in the center of it and having any real perspective…I love the process; it’s always a ride. But you just don’t know how people are going to respond.” According to MyTimeToShine, the director did not complete his deal to return before the WGA writers strike commenced in May. Waititi currently appears in the HBO series Our Flag Means Death and helped develop Reservation Dog’s final season. He is also hard at work on his own Star Wars movie, which is still in development. Marvel Studios has yet to fully confirm Thor 5 is even in development.
