Today, Deadline announced that director Jonathan Krisel is set to helm the upcoming sequel to Detective Pikachu. He is best known for directing Portlandia. Movement was quiet on the highly anticipated sequel until last month when Legendary confirmed the film was still in active development.

Krisel takes over from director Rob Letterman who helmed the original live-action Pokemon film. Ryan Reynolds is expected to return though it’ll be interesting what happens as Pikachu was transformed back into a human at the film’s end. It’s unknown if Justice Smith or Kathryn Newton will also return as Pokemon trainers.

Detective Pikachu 2 has no set release date
