Earlier this summer, Netflix announced they would be developing a live-action Pokemon TV series for the streaming network. The series was expected to be separate from 2019’s Detective Pikachu which was the first attempt to translate the IP to live-action.

However, recently Daniel Ritchman revealed on his Patreon a live-action movie is also in early development. The Illuminerdi confirmed the film was indeed in development but adds it is expected to be connected to the series. The film and series will be a total reboot from the Detective Pikachu universe. We at Knight Edge Media learned last year a film based on Red & Blue could also be in development. However, it is unknown if this film will follow those characters from the video games.
