Recently, Sir Patrick Stewart spoke with Entertainment Tonight about Picard’s upcoming and final season on Paramount+. The news organization eventually switched gears to talk to the acclaimed actor about returning as an alternate universe version of Charles Xavier in last year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness after his death in Logan.

The actor goes on to tease that his time as Charles might not be over. As well as revealing that Sir Ian McKellen might also return as his arch-nemesis Magneto:

“I can’t say about what Charles’ future might possibly hold. Actually, it went very well. He did say something like [‘Hey, I would’ve done this!’], yes that’s true,” Stewart said, before hinting that there may be more Professor X and Magneto to come. “But we’re not done, Sir Ian and myself. We’re… we got plans.”

Internet rumors began circulating late last month that Ian McKellen has already shot some early footage for an upcoming MCU film (via Twitter). The only movie that would make sense would be Deadpool 3, which is expected to be a multiversal film celebrating the entire Fox X-Men and Fantastic Four Universes of the early 2000s. With many past actors rumored to appear including Hugh Jackman returning as Wolverine. However, there is still speculation the two could also make one more appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars. Production officially begins on Deadpool 3 later this year under director Shawn Levy (Free Guy).

Deadpool 3 hits theaters on November 8th, 2024
