After a summer full of strikes led by the WGA and SAG committees that halted all major Hollywood productions, studios finally came to an argument with the respective guilds to kickstart productions once again. Yesterday, the SAG actor’s strike officially ended at midnight after 118 days, which began mid-production on Deadpool. Now, Marvel Studios are looking to shift their entire film slate to accommodate the halt in production, with only Deadpool 3 coming out in 2024.
Deadpool 3 has moved from July 26th, 2024. The film is already 50% completed, but it will pick up filming right before Thanksgiving and then again in the New Year. Captain America: Brave New World has moved to February 14th, 2025, and will undergo 5-months of reshoots in 2024. Fantastic Four has moved to May 2nd, 2025, and is expected to announce the cast any day now that the SAG actor’s strike has concluded. Production will also begin in early 2024. Thunderbolts will hit theaters on July 25th, 2025, after production begins in 2024. Finally, Blade will undergo rewrites and begin production in late 2024 for a November 7th, 2025 release date. The next two Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars will specifically hit May 1st, 2026, and May 7th, 2027.
As for Disney+ projects, the studio already announced Echo will drop all at once this January. As well as the release of Agatha and Ironheart in late 2024. Their most anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again, has undergone severe rewrites and still needs to complete filming under a new showrunner. It’s unknown when the show will debut on the streaming platform, but expected to be sometime in 2025.
