Spider-Man: No Way Home has crashed into theaters this past weekend, breaking box office records around the globe. With the film focusing on many fan-favorite cameos and multiversal villains, it’s unknown where the character will go next. Recently, we learned that Tom Holland would return for a new trilogy set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his current contract still allows for a crossover event film.
:: Spoilers Ahead::
Following the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker finally allows Doctor Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch) to complete his spell to brainwash everyone from knowing he was ever Spider-Man. The film ends with Peter Parker alone but taking up the mantle of Spider-Man in his classic blue and red suit. Aunt May (played by Marisa Tomei) is murdered at the hands of the Green Goblin (played by Willem Dafoe). As well as allowing MJ and Ned never to know who he ever was (which also includes never being an Avenger). But where does the character go from here?
Director Jon Watts was announced in 2020 to be directing Fantastic Four after No Way Home. No Way Home may set up Peter Parker discovering the Fantastic Four. Jon Watts may bring Tom Holland back for the upcoming film. It would push the character forward from a loner once again to having a family once again after the passing of Aunt May. While Marvel should still focus on the Fantastic Four before having any significant crossovers. The film certainly could end with Peter Parker in the Baxter Building.
