Today, Warner Brothers announced that a new slate of Max Originals shows will move from the streaming service to HBO. In a surprising move, the company will focus on linear television after literally rebranding HBO Max in 2022. The upcoming shows Lanterns, Harry Potter, and Welcome to Derry will all debut first on the cable network. The three shows will then steam on Max the next day, like many of their other HBO originals including House of the Dragon and The Last of Us. All shows are also officially greenlit on the network, with Lanterns and Welcome to Derry having already assembled a writer’s room and showrunners. While Harry Potter has not announced its showrunner, WB has been taking pitches since January.
