Today, Variety announced that actor Clancy Brown has joined the cast of The Penguin TV Series as it preps to begin production in New York City. Brown is best known for voicing Lex Luthor in Superman: The Animated Series but has also appeared on Arrow and The Punisher. He will play the Gotham City crimelord Salvatore Maroni after Carmine Falcone was murdered by Riddler in The Batman. Lauren LeFranc is set to showrunner the series, with Colin Farrell returning in the title role.
Maroni’s introduction into Matt Reeve’s Batman universe also means that Harvey Dent could be introduced. In the original comics, Maroani was the villain that burned Harvey Dent’s face with acid before he turned into Two-Face. Two-Face was played amazingly by Aaron Eckhart in 2008’s The Dark Knight but often overshaded by Heath Ledger’s Joker.
The Penguin will stream exclusively on HBO Max
