Today, a report announced that horror director Mike Flanagan has boarded Warner Bros. upcoming remake of The Mist. He will write and direct the film after finishing work on the Carrie TV series and Exorcist sequel. The Stephen King novel was previously adapted into a 2007 film and a 2017 Spike series, in which a small Maine town is engulfed by a mysterious mist that conceals hidden monsters.

The 2007 film was known for diverging greatly from the original source material, where the survivors all die in the end instead of being rescued by the military. The ending by the original director, Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead), is considered one of the devastating twist endings in any Stephen King adaptation. It would be interesting to see whether Flanagan keeps the original book ending or the 2007 film twist ending in his adaptation.
The Mist remake has no set release date
