Today, a report announced that Walt Disney has decided to revive the Tangled live-action movie. The film has been in development since 2020 alongside Moana and Frozen. However, after the disappointing results of Snow White, the studio put a hold on all live-action adaptations.
Now that they have received the film, the report reveals that actress Scarlett Johansson has begun circling the role of the villain Mother Gothel. During the SAG-AFTRA protests in 2023, it was revealed that actress Florence Pugh was courted for the lead role of Rapunzel. Though many fans have suggested singer Sabrina Carpenter would also make a great Rapunzel. Ironically, Johansson and Pugh played sisters in Black Widow. At one point, The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey entered talks to helm the film.
