Avatar Studios has been hard at work developing a multitude of projects set in the Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra animated universe. We at Knight Edge Media have brought you exclusive details on the upcoming TV shows from the studio, including Avatar: Seven Havens and a new secret waterbending series. However, the first project to be released will be a feature film titled The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, featuring the return of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko on a brand-new adventure.

The movie will feature a brand new voice cast for our favorite group of heroes, including Eric Nam (Transplant, Saturday Night Live Korea) as Aang; Jessica Matten (Dark Winds) as Katara; Román Zaragoza (Ghosts) as Sokka; and Dionne Quan (The Fairly OddParents, All Grown Up) as Toph and Steven Yeun (Invincible) as Zuko. A major mystery from the film is the villain, who will be voiced by Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy). Now, several Avatar: The Last Airbender content creators, The Avatarist and Appa Comics, have seemingly revealed some major plot points from the film. While we can’t verify these plot points, they may be a spoiler and should be taken as a rumor until confirmed by the studio.

Dave Baustia is set to voice a character named Tagah. He is described as an extremely muscular airbender with a physique like Sylas from League of Legends. It’s unknown how or why we are having another airbending villain after Zaheer appeared in The Legend of Korra. Hence, the film was filed under Lost Realm as a copyright listing in 2024.

Another major plot point is that proto-Republic City from The Legend of Korra era will be a prominent location in the film. In addition to a new temple city in the mountains modeled after Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel in South America will be introduced. Both our heroes and the villain are in search of an ancient airbending staff from a previously unknown airbender, Avatar Sonam. A character named Sonam was mentioned in the Avatar Yangchen novels, but the creators revealed earlier this year that they will “retcon” anything they need to for their new projects (via CBR). Finally, they state that more from the film will be revealed next month at New York Comic-Con during the 20th Anniversary Celebration panel, though that’s not confirmed.
The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender hit theaters on October 9th, 2026
