Today, DC Studios co-head James Gunn announced that his Superman sequel will debut in summer 2027. This comes off the news that Gunn has been hard at work writing a sequel to his massively successful Superman film. The original film has grossed over $600 million worldwide and holds an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Many still assume it will be a “Super-family” team-up movie following next year’s Supergirl. The film will be titled Man of Tomorrow, which ironically many assumed 2013’s Man of Steel sequel would be titled. The announcement also features a Jim Lee drawing with Superman and Lex Luthor in his classic battle armor. It’s unknown if the two will be allies in the film and take on a new villain, such as fan-favorite Brainiac. David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult all announced their return in their own social media posts
