RUMOR: ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ Courts Stage Actor Major Curda To Voice Avatar Pavi’s Airbending Teacher Jae?

Avatar Studios may have cast stage actor Major Curda for the lead voice role of Jae in their upcoming animated series, Avatar: Seven Havens.

Several months ago, we at Knight Edge Media conducted research for the upcoming Avatar Studios series, Avatar: Seven Havens. The forthcoming sequel series will follow two young twin girls as they discover that they are both the new Avatar. Along the way, they will meet a young airbender teenager named Jae and another adult named Captain Karthik to form the new “Team Avatar”.

None of the casting has been announced for the upcoming sequel, as the series was only officially announced in February and is not expected to debut until sometime in 2027. As with all Avatar Studios productions, the creators, Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino, were looking to cast voice actors with the same ethnicity as their characters. They had a casting call for both Avatar Pavi and her twin sister Nisha, who were looking for real South Asain kids to voice the characters. They will most likely be complete unknowns for the role, thus we won’t find out their names until the studio releases that information.

As for their companions in the series, we have learned from various leaks that Jae is a teenager living in the post-apocalyptic city of Elora, following the cataclysmic events of Avatar Korra sometime prior. The city is overgrown with vines and rundown, yet it still has thousands of citizens. The city or “haven” protects them from the energy storms outside in the wastelands. Jae has long black hair and wears an altered pro-bending uniform. He also rides an airbending hoverboard with a ball of air in the center, very similar to Aang’s upcoming DLC content in Sonic Crossworlds (via Sonic Stadium). A prevailing fan theory suggests that Jae will be a descendant of Avatar Aang in the distant future.

While conducting our sleuthing, we discovered that Avatar: Seven Havens executive producer Ethan Spaulding began following Korean-Scottish stage actor Major Curda on the Instagram platform. Curda has appeared in various stage productions on Broadway but also had a small guest appearance on The CW’s Riverdale. While not groundbreaking news, it is interesting that both would even follow each other. Additionally, Curda bears a striking resemblance to the leaked (and now officially released) art of Jae standing side by side with Pavi. As we know, Avatar Studios is again trying to cast voice actors who resemble the ethnicity of the on-screen characters. So, it would make sense to use the actors’ likenesses for their animated characters, as they are voicing them.

Additionally, in an even stranger turn of events, Major Curda appeared on an episode of Avatar: Braving the Elements back in December 2022, way before Seven Havens was ever announced, but still in development. Braving the Elements is the official podcast of Avatar Studios, co-hosted by Dante Basco and Janet Varney. In the episode, Curda discusses his time on Broadway and growing up a massive Avatar fan with his four other sisters. Ironically, he mentions wanting to cosplay as Avatar Aang someday because of his connection to Airbending. As that is the element he would choose to bend if it existed in real life. It would make sense that he was already cast for the show in 2022 during the show’s early development, thus his invitation onto Braving the Elements. Of course, this is all pure speculation based on circumstantial evidence and needs to be treated as a rumor, as Avatar Studios has not officially announced the voice cast for the animated series.

Avatar: Seven Havens is slated to hit Paramount+ sometime in 2027
