Today, Lionsgate is next to debut their slate of films at CinemaCon 2025 in Las Vegas. As usual, their panel was mainly about their John Wick franchise. They debuted some new footage from the upcoming spin-off film Ballerina starring Ana De Armas. The footage was mainly the reshot footage between her character and John Wick before the events of John Wick 4. The action reshoots were done by director Chad Stahelski, not the film’s director Len Wiseman. Ballerina hits theaters on June 6th.

Next, the studio once again confirmed a Caine spin-off film starring Donnie Yen was in the works. The character was first introduced in John Wick 4 and was tasked with hunting down John Wick to save his daughter. The character was so widely praised that Lionsgate announced a film shortly after John Wick 4 was released. During the panel, it was revealed that Donnie Yen will direct and star in the movie. It will take place in Hong Kong and be more of a throwback to classic kung fu  films set in the John Wick universe. The script was written by Mattson Tomlin, who worked on The Batman 2 and Terminator Zero for Netflix. Production begins later this year.

Finally, as a surprise to nobody, the studio officially announced that John Wick 5 is now in development. The last film had John Wick seemingly die and be buried, but it happened offscreen. There will be a new way for Wick to survive his latest challenge of returning. Keanu Reeves will return to star alongside director Chad Stahelski. An anime prequel film is also in the works from Shannon Tindle (Kubo and the Two Strings).
