Today, a report announced that Rachna Fruchbom has been tapped as head writer and presumably showrunner for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Young Avengers TV series. Fruchbom is best known for writing for several beloved sitcoms like Parks & Rec and Fresh Off The Boat. The team will probably go by the name Champions, like the show title, because most are not teenagers anymore.
The series has been long rumored, with multiple Young Avengers appearing throughout Phase 4, including Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld) and Ms. Marvel (played by Iman Vellani) finally meeting in The Marvels post-credit scene. The team was also featured in some leaked concept art for Avengers: Doomsday, but it’s unknown if they will appear in the current iteration of the movie. Production is rumored to begin later this year.
Champions has no set release date for Disney+
