Recently, a report stated that Netflix’s third season of Avatar: The Last Airbender would begin production in May 2025 and run two short months into August. We at Knight Edge Media confirmed that the end date was wrong and production would run past the reported August end date. However, we were told that production would begin sometime in Q2 of this year following a short hiatus. A new report has confirmed that production will start May 26th and run through November 7th back in Vancouver, Canada. As we previously reported, they have moved away from filming on The Volume for more traditional sets. We also reported the returning writer’s room that has worked on the final season.
The production team had long worried that the child actors seen in season 1 would age out of their roles going into the second and third seasons, especially concerning lead star Gordon Cormier. As he has already grown considerably between season 1 and season 2 (via Instagram). So, back-to-back filming of both seasons was always possible, as we reported in 2022. We have also learned that the series will age up Toph Beifong (played by Miya Cech), which lends credence to the fan theory that there will be a time jump in the series to explain why the actors look much older compared to the original animated series taking place over 1 year.
