‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Confirms Tyler Mane Return as Sabertooth Not Liev Schreiber

Today, another villain-centric promo was released for Marvel Studios upcoming multiversal crossover film Deadpool & Wolverine. The promo features Wolverine coming face-to-face with his archrival (and stepbrother) Sabertooth. We knew the character was in the film from set photos back in 2023 (via Mirror UK), which features the character in his classic costume from the 2000s X-Men movie. Unfortunately, the set photos were too far away to determine which actor was playing him. Sabertooth will be part of a group of X-Men villains (possibly called The Marauders) from throughout all the past X-Men films that include Pyro, Toad, Juggernaut, Lady Deathstrike, and Azazel, amongst others stuck in The Void.

Now, this promo confirms Tyler Mane will return as the character he played in the film instead of fan-favorite Liev Schreiber, who played the character in X-Men: Origins Wolverine. Schreiber has long wanted to return as Victor Creed/Sabertooth, even discussing a return in 2017’s Logan, but was cut during the script phase (via Comicbook.com). Last year, Schreiber was rumored to be returning in Deadpool 3, but it turned out it was just the character of Sabertooth returning, not the actor. However, considering how many cameos are in the film, both “variants” of the same character could appear. With Liev Schreiber returning as Victor Creed in a different scene, but that is just pure speculation.

Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th
