Goddard was rumored to be courted by Marvel Studios to tackle Spider-Man 4 but will now be preoccupied with The Matrix. The director said, “It is not hyperbole to say The Matrix films changed both cinema and my life.  Lana and Lilly’s exquisite artistry inspires me on a daily basis, and I am beyond grateful for the chance to tell stories in their world.” Original co-writer and co-director Lana Wachowski will stay on to executive produce the sequel.

The Matrix 5 has no set release date
