A Midnight Sons feature film featuring a team-up of all the occult heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been exciting. The project has long been rumored as a potential addition to the MCU after the introduction of Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, and next year’s Blade. The project was first teased as a registered trademark during SDCC 2021 weekend alongside Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars (via Reddit); however, nothing official was ever announced.

Daniel Ritchman states the film is in early development at Marvel Studios. The studio is also looking for composer-turned-director Michael Giacchino to helm the project after working on Werewolf by Night. This makes sense, as producer Stephen Broussard was rumored last year by DCULeaks (via Twitter) to be producing the potential film.

It’s unknown what the lineup would be for this underworld team-up film, but many fans have loved the lineup featured in the unproduced Marvel Comic artwork by Greg Smallwood. The 2017 pitch that Marvel Comics passed on featured Blade, Ghost Riders Danny Ketch and Johnny Blaze, Morbius, Jennifer Kale, Hellstrom, and the Punisher (via GameRant). The MCU could feature Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Blade and introduce us to Ghost Rider. They could bring back Tom Austen as Daimon Helstrom from the canceled Hulu series if they wanted to. With the release of last year’s hit video game Midnight Suns, it was only a matter of time before a film was made.
