Showrunner Angela Kang Boards Amazon and Sony’s ‘Silk: Spider Society’

Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that writer Angela Kang had boarded the long-in-development Silk: Spider Society series from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures as showrunner. Kang is best known for recently showrunning The Walking Dead and the upcoming Daryl spin-off. The Spider-Man spin-off series will focus on Cindy Moon a Korean-American teen with spider powers of her own. In the comics, she is known to be around the same age as Peter Parker and has a relationship with Spider-Man. Back in 2021, Adeline Rudolph was rumored for the role, though fans have also fancast Lana Condor in the title role.

Into the Spider-verse producers, Chris Miller & Phil Lord alongside Amy Pascal will produce the upcoming series. This is expected to be the first of many spin-off shows though according to the rights with Sony must first debut on liner TV (MGM+) before moving to stream on Amazon Prime.
