François Chau & Ryan Mah Join Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ as Fire Nation Members

Recently, over at Avatar News (and confirmed by us at Knight Edge Media), some more minor castings have been announced for members of the Fire Nation. According to their report, François Chau and Ryan Mah have joined the cast as the Great Fire Nation Sage and Lieutenant Dang, another soldier upon Prince Zuko’s ship. François Chau is best known for appearing on LOST, 24, and physically playing Shredder in the 1990s live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. However, recently the actor as appeared on The Expanse for Amazon Prime. Ryan Mah has had several minor roles but recently appeared on Lost in Space for Netflix and Snowpericer on TNT.

In the original series, the Fire Sages have turned away from serving only the Avatar to serving the Fire Lord during the 100-year war. The Great Sage instructs the rest of the sages never to allow Aang to communicate with his past life Avatar Roku or he will learn more about the Avatar State. Though a single sage Shyu defies the Fire Nation and helps Aang communicate with Roku. He eventually becomes the next Great Sage of the Fire Nation, removing the traitor sages. Lieutenant Dang will be an original character in the live-action show, as only Lieutenant Jee (played by Ruy Iskandar) was named in the original show on Zuko’s vessel. Production ended in mid-June in Vancouver.
