Today, Deadline announced that screenwriter Takashi Doscher has been hired to pen the script for Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima feature film. He most recently penned and directed the romantic sci-fi romance, Only, starring Freida Pinto and Leslie Odom Jr. The project was announced last year with John Wick director Chad Stahelski attached.

The story follows samurai warrior Jin Sakai, the last surviving member of his clan, who must set aside the traditions that have shaped him as a warrior to wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Tsushima.

The film was put into early development after the original video game was met with massive critical acclaim on the Playstation 5 in 2020. Stahelski, Alex Young, and Jason Spit will produce the film under their 87Eleven Entertainment production banner.
