DC Comics Moves Forward With a ‘Constantine’ HBO Max Series

Recently, our friends over at The Illuminerdi revealed that JJ Abrams would be developing a rebooted Constantine series in conjunction with his Justice League Dark series. The report states that the show will debut on HBO Max. The streaming service will be looking to recast the lead John Constantine to reflect a younger and ethnically diverse version of the character.

The site mentions Sound of Metal star Riz Ahmed as a possible replacement after Matt Ryan played the character in the Arrowverse. However, many fans have also suggested Star Wars star John Boyega play the character. Finally, the report mentions that this new show will delve deeper into the horror elements of the Hellblazer comics as opposed to the religious side; seen in the 2014 NBC series.
