Earlier last year we got our first glimpse of Sony Pictures next Spider-Man spin-off film Morbius. The film stars Jared Leto as Doctor Michael Morbius who subjects himself to bat experiences and becomes Morbius the Living Vampire. In the comics, the character has been both a friend and for of Spider-Man. However, the trailer revealed that Michael Keaton (somehow) will return from Spider-Man: Homecoming as Vulture. The MCU and Sony/Marvel films have never (officially) crossed over. So it has been confusing for fans to see an MCU character in the Sony universe…
Now, director Daniel Espinosa while speaking in an interview with MovieZine about his time on the Swedish set; may have let slip that Venom star Tom Hardy will appear in the film as well.
It usually feels strange before the day begins, when you look at the schedule and stand on the set yourself. When you walk around there, the recording looks just like a Swedish production, but then when you look at the schedule and read names like Michael Keaton, Jared Leto, Tom Hardy, then it feels cool and very exciting. But once you start working, it’s exactly the same thing. An actor wants a director and actors want to be directed.
The film has been pushed back several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it will be interesting how many Sony characters will begin to crossover with one another. Other films include Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Woman, and Madame Spider.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage hits theaters September 24th; Morbius hits theaters in January 2022
