Scribe Matthew Robinson Will Pen Patty Jenkins’ ‘Rogue Squadron’ For Lucasfilm

Recently, The Hollywood Reporter announced that screenwriter Matthew Robinson has been hired to pen the script for the Star Wars spin-off film Rogue Squadron. The film was announced last year at Disney’s Investors Day and will see Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins at the helm. Matthew Robinson is best known for writing The Invention of Lying alongside comedian Ricky Gervais in 2009.

This will be the first Star Wars-related film since the release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. The studio has since pivoted its projects to streaming shows on Disney+. Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy will return once again to produce the project. Production begins later next year.
