Today, a new report announced that director Curry Barker will helm A24’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot. This new film will be produced alongside the previously announced television series by producer Glen Powell. A24 has been a major competitor of Blumhouse for rebooting classic horror franchises, including this year’s Crystal Lake TV series. Barker is best known for starring in many sketch comedy shorts and for directing the recent film festival movie Obsession. The new film is being described as a “reimagining” of the 1974 horror classic created by Tobe Hooper and Kim Henkel. Roy Lee and Steven Schneider of Spooky Pictures, and Stuart Manashil and Exurbia Films’ Pat Cassidy, Ian Henkel, and Kim Henkel will all produce the new film.
