Recently, it was announced that Walt Disney has begun early development on a Tinkerbell live-action TV series for Disney+. This project has been in various stages of development with Elizabeth Banks attached since 2010 (via The Film Stage), but was envisioned as a feature film at the time. Most recently, producer Reese Witherspoon was attached to a film version, with the studio eyeing Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) in the title role during the SAG-AFTRA strike of 2023. This new version will be a streaming series from showrunners Liz Heldens (Will Trent) and Bridget Carpenter (11.22.63). The duo will also produce the series alongside former Disney Branded Television head Gary Marsh and Quinn Haberman of Heldens’ Selfish Mermaid company. No casting has begun for the series, but many fans have suggested singer Sabrina Carpenter for the title role. Yara Shahidi last played Tink in 2023’s Peter Pan & Wendy.

Tinkerbell has no set release date
