Pre-production is underway for the upcoming Harry Potter reboot series on HBO and Max. Casting is underway for the main child actors who will take on the main roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This came off a months-long battle to secure the showrunner gig from writer Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and director Mark Mylod. A recent report revealed several writers boarded the project in the first season’s writer’s room. The writers include author Josephine Gardiner (unknown if she is related to Francesca), Andy Greenwald (Briarpatch), and Laura Neal (Killing Eve). Other writers will be revealed as pre-production continues. Filming for the first season is not expected to begin until April 2025 in the UK.

Harry Potter is currently slated to hit HBO & Max in 2026
