Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that DC Comics and HBO Max has begun early development on a solo Penguin series for the streaming network. The character will first appear in Matt Reeve’s Batman film played (unrecognizably) by Colin Farrell. He is expected to return for the spin-off series, but no deal has been put in place.

Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D) is set to pen the project with Matt Reeves and Dylan Clark producing. It will follow Oswald Cobblepot as he grows in power in Gotham’s underworld. This also marks the second spin-off series from the upcoming film after Gotham Central.

The Penguin has no set release date.
